This portrait of Bailey, Jasper and Archie was commissioned by Pete for his wife’s 50th birthday. There are 3 generations of their dogs together in this painting. The initial idea was just to do a head & shoulders portrait but after looking through all the photographs available I suggested to Pete that I could create a composition of them together on a field rather than just head & shoulders. And we agreed that it could be a better, more interesting idea.
Pete kindly shared with me a bit of a story about this lovely trio: Jasper, golden Cocker, Was Donna’s first ever dog, their lady and the tramp dog. He was with them 1992-2003. Bailey brown & white working cocker, a much loved family pet, lived to 14, from 2003-2017. He was a loyal friend and loved by all, he was the one that grew up with their children.
Archie, 2017 – brown working cocker, with the grumpy looking eyes and white star on chest, a real needy character that gets his own way. They have a love hate relationship with him, but they enjoy cuddles with him. It was a pleasure to meet Pete and Donna and also the absolutely adorable Archie when they came to collect the painting.
What a lovely couple and I was so happy that they loved the painting. There is a beautiful review that they’ve kindly posted on the Google Reviews page:
“My wife asked for a special birthday present, the request was for a portrait of her 3 dogs that meant so much to us over the years. I found Irisha’s Pet Portraits. Well what can I say, when we went to collect the portrait my wife had tears in her eyes. The portrait was perfect and encompasses all 3 dogs personalities. Everyone who has seen it loves the portrait. Irina has done us proud, she spoke to me from the very beginning and kept in contact with as the portrait progressed. I fully recommend her, she gave us more than we asked for. Thank you.”
