Irisha went through the Portrait of our beautiful Peggy my daughter’s miniature Dachshund  step by step with many updates They say with a pet portrait you have to see and feel your pet and that’s exactly what happened It took my breath away  !! We had so many conversations about the portrait as she wanted to get it just right and let me tell you, she knocked it out the park! My portrait is beautiful, she really captured the fine details which is not easy with so many wrinkles on a hairless cat! My name is Irina Petrova, also known as the artist Irisha, and I have been creating professional pet portraits since 2010. I create realistic custom pet portraits from photos, hand-painted in pastels, oils or acrylics. As a professional UK pet portrait artist, I specialise in capturing the character, expression and unique personality of much-loved dogs, cats, horses and other pets.

Whether you are looking for a portrait of your own pet, a thoughtful gift for someone special, or a lasting memorial to a beloved companion, each portrait is individually created from your photographs with great care and attention to detail.

I work with professional-quality pastels, oils and acrylics, each offering a beautiful way to create a highly realistic pet portrait. Pastel is my most popular medium, while oils are wonderful for achieving exceptional depth and fine detail, and acrylics offer rich colour and versatility. I am always happy to advise which medium may best suit your portrait and the result you are looking for.

Every portrait is individually created from your photographs, with particular attention given to your pet’s character, expression and unique features. I can create portraits of dogs, cats, horses and other animals, from simple head-and-shoulders portraits to full-body and multiple-pet compositions.

I am based in Worcester, Worcestershire, and accept pet portrait commissions from customers throughout the UK, with worldwide delivery also available.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pet Portraits

How do I commission a pet portrait?

The first step is simply to get in touch. Let me know the approximate size and type of portrait you are considering, and send me a few photographs of your pet if you can. You can contact me by email, phone, text message or WhatsApp. I will then guide you through the whole process, including choosing the best photograph, size, composition and medium for your portrait.

What photographs do you need for a pet portrait?

Digital photographs are ideal, but I can also work from printed photographs if that is all you have. Even if the image quality is not perfect, please send it to me and I will always have a look to see whether it can be used. If you have several photographs, it is very helpful to send a selection, as seeing your pet from different angles helps me understand their features, character and personality.

How long does a pet portrait take?

Most pet portrait commissions usually take around two weeks to complete, although this can vary depending on the size and complexity of the portrait and how busy my commission list is at the time. During particularly busy periods, the waiting time may be longer. If you need the portrait for a particular date, such as a birthday, anniversary or wedding, please let me know when you enquire and I will always confirm whether I can meet your deadline before you book.

Can you create a portrait of more than one pet?

Yes, absolutely. I regularly create multiple-pet portraits, and the animals do not need to appear together in the same photograph. I can work from separate photographs and create a natural composition for the finished portrait. Before I begin the artwork, I prepare an approximate digital mock-up in Photoshop so we can discuss the positioning, proportions and overall composition.
