Pet Portraits by Irisha

A warm welcome to my Pet Portraits website. My name is Irina Petrova but I’m known as the artist Irisha. Originally from Russia, I now live in Gloucester, UK.

I’ve been hand painting pet portraits professionally since 2010 and I work mainly in pastels and coloured pencils.

If you are looking for a dog portrait, cat portrait or horse portrait I would love the opportunity to capture their likeness in a pet portrait you will cherish.

I just want to say THANK YOU so much for the portrait of my 4 horses that my boyfriend got me for Christmas. It is absolutely amazing and they are all spot on! I can't believe how good it is, it looks like a photo! It's the best present I have ever received and you are very very talented. Proud to hang it up, thanks again xxxx

I had a painting done for my Son's Bulldog who was absolutely devastated when he had to have her put to sleep. Irina did a fantastic job of practically bringing her back to life. She kept in touch with me every step of the way, making sure I was happy with what she was doing and I must say I was gobsmacked when I saw the finished article. It certainly brought a tear to my eye and I can highly recommend her. Thank you Irina

About 5 years ago I bought a portrait of my border collie. He still has pride of place on my wall. I fully recommend anyone getting a portrait of their pet from Irisha. In the build up we exchanged various emails and photos so that the character is clearly shown in the artwork. It is a true likeness of my collie displaying his characteristics. Absolutely love it! Thank you so much

Pet Portraits - FAQ

Examples of frequently asked questions. Click the question to reveal the answer.

I do list a price guide on the home page and on my dog portraits, cat portraits and horse portraits pages. It is however a guide and there are a range of factors that determine the final price. These include:

  • Whether portrait is a head study or full body portrait.
  • Whether the portrait is of one subject or more than one subject.
  • How simple or complex the background is.
  • Whether you want the pet portrait supplied unframed or framed.

I require a deposit to start a pet portrait. I email an image of the finished portrait and there is no obligation to buy until you are happy with it. Once you are happy the balance is payable (cash, cheque or Paypal) and the finished portrait can then be collected or posted to you by special delivery.

I am able to work from a physical photographic print that you post to me or a digital image that is sent by email. It’s important that the pet is clear and appears large in the image. Ideally the lighting will have been neutral so that the fur colour is accurate in the photo. Also avoid images with red eye if possible. Sending multiple images that illustrate certain features or reveals your pet’s personality will help. The better the images you send the better the final portrait.

Typically a portrait will take 3-4 weeks. Certain times of the year are busier but I can always give an approximate completion date before I start.

Some customers want to arrange their own framing. I am able to supply your pet portrait framed if you prefer. I only charge for the cost of the frame, no fee for actually framing. I can advise which frames I use or you can send me the frame you would like to use.
